TISSNET
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts a National Entrance Test (NET) exam known as TISSNET. The exam is conducted for all Masters programmes offered in TISS campuses at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Hyderabad, Guwahati, IMHST Chennai, MHAT Calicut and G-SET Ranchi.
TISS does not offer any MBA programme. Instead, it offers MA in Human Resources Management and Labour Relations (HRM & LR) programme at its Mumbai campus. It also offers various other Masters degrees.
TISS-NET is a computer-based entrance exam. The entrance test consists of objective questions related to Social Sensitivity, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Ability and Knowledge on Contemporary issues. The exam is held for 100 minutes (1 hour & 40 minutes).
Candidates are first shortlisted on the basis of TISS NET scores. They are later called for Pre-Written Test or/and Personal Interviews.
TISS & TISSNET eligibility criteria
Candidates having a bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent ( under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognized university are eligible to apply.
TISSNET Exam Pattern
The test had 3 sections: General Awareness, Logical Reasoning-Quantitative aptitude-Data Interpretation, and Verbal ability. The number of questions and marks were as follows:

There are 3 sections in the computer based TISSNET 2016 exam which are as follows:

The duration of the TISSNET 2017 exam will 1 hour 40 minutes and the number of questions is 100.

The Social Sensitivity topic refers to the general awareness and current affairs regarding the social issues. The topics on which you can expect the questions are as follows:

TISSNET Syllabus – Verbal Ability
The Verbal or Language Ability section is similar to that of the other MBA entrance exams. The common topics from which the questions are asked in this section include the following:

For this section, reading is the best preparation methodology. Brush up your grammar and vocabulary skills.

Paper pattern of TISS exam TISSNET:
Percentage wise breakup of topics:-
Quant: 15 questions out of 50 questions. This equals to 30%.
Verbal: 20 questions out of 50 questions. This equals to 40%.
GK: 15 questions out of 50 questions. This equals to 30%.
Exam pattern and rounds of TISSNET 2016:-
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences NET (National Entrance Test) is an online test held in basically two parts:
I Part:
The first part of the paper consists of objective type question on the following main sections:
Section A: Analytical and Numerical Ability (15 Questions)
Section B: Language Ability (20 Questions) and
Section C: Awareness of General and Social Issues (15 Questions)
II Part:
This part of the exam consists of analysis based questions to be solved in 60 minutes. This includes case lets and programmed based questions and this is followed by a 20 minute Group Discussion to be completed in the given time frames by all the candidates. It has basically four sections covering the following topics under it:
I Section: DI (Data Interpretation) – 20 Questions
II Section: DS (Data Sufficiency) – 20 Questions
III Section: Reading Comprehension – 20 Questions and
IV Section: Business Knowledge and Foundation of Management—15 Questions
Marking Scheme for TISS:
The candidates will be given one mark for each correct answer attempted by them. There will be no negative marking in the Tata Institute of Social Sciences Entrance Exam.Total Distribution of Marks:
National Common Written Test: 100 Marks
Interview Test/ Group Discussion: 50 Marks
Personal Interview: 75 Marks
Total Marks Allotted: 225 Marks
Timing of Exam: 2 pm to 3:40 pm
How to apply for TISSNET 2017
Candidates are required to apply online through the e-application only, available on the Institute’s website http://admissions.tiss.edu. Candidates from remote places where no internet and telecommunication facilities are available can get a printed copy of the application form from the Institute Candidates have to apply through the online application form only.
